Social Bookmarking Backlinks - The Pro's and Con's

in Backlink

For this article, I want to talk a bit about social bookmarking backlinks. I  want to talk about what they are, and the advantages and disadvantages of them.  Hopefully after reading this article, you will understand very well if these  type of backlinks are right for your business.

First, let's start off with the basics. Backlinks in itself are links to your  website that are placed on other websites. Many people go about creating them to  help their search engine rankings, as search engine rankings often take into  account just how many links are going back to your page. Social Bookmarking  Backlinks are backlinks that are created on various social bookmarking websites.  A lot of these websites encourage you to post their links, and a lot of people  go to these bookmarking websites to find new sites to check out. So just how  valuable are these backlinks?

To start, let's look at the positives. Because you are creating backlinks on  social bookmarking websites, these websites basically encourage you to create  backlinks and want these backlinks. This means that your backlinks will likely  be around for a long time. Likely as long as the social bookmarking websites  themselves exist. This is definitely a big positive, as many people worry about  their backlinks being removed.

Another positive to bookmarking websites is that the search engines will  frequently check them looking for new links. This means that your backlinks will  likely be found much quicker than other traditional backlinks. Other types of  backlinks may potentially take months to create, but these backlinks should be  found much quicker.

Finally, one more positive to consider is that in addition to trying to  influence your search rankings, these backlinks can also lead to traffic in  itself from people surfing the bookmarking websites and finding your links. This  leads to a win-win situation with these type of backlinks.

Now what about the disadvantages? In all my experience with social backlinks,  I haven't really found much disadvantage to using these types of backlinks. Some  bookmarking sites may use nofollow links, which some believe means a less  powerful backlink, although this is in much dispute and is a frequently debated  topic. If you have concerns about the dofollow/nofollow links, make sure and  check before hand if the links are dofollow or not before creating them.

I hope you now understand social bookmarking backlinks a bit more. Good luck!
